We welcome school groups to visit all of our facilities. Field trips for schools and home school groups are always free, donations appreciated.

To schedule a field trip to any Sumter County Museum facility, please contact Outreach Director Diana Roof at droof@sumtercountymuseum.org.

Please schedule at least two weeks in advance.

We often offer classes for adults and children. These will be posted on our Events page when scheduled.

Colonial Costumes will be available for a $25 rental fee. Deborah Watts will be able to assist you with your handmade costume rentals Thursday-Saturday 10am-4:30pm inside the Williams Brice House.

Our temporary exhibits often offer accompanying teacher guides with lesson plans. Please contact the museum for more details.

Lending Libraries

Teachers can check out class sets of these five books, Number the Stars, The Diary of a Young Girl, Night, Maus I, and Maus II. There are lesson plans provided with each book that are geared toward state standards. If you are interested in reserving a set of books to use with your students please contact Diana Roof, Temple Sinai Jewish History Center Site Manager at droof@sumtercouuntymuseum.org, subject: Lending Library.

 

Sumter County Museum has an extensive archive collection consisting of manuscripts, plats, photographs, books, and more. We welcome researchers but ask that you make an appointment to visit. Please contact Leeam Stein at lstein@sumtercountymuseum.org or 803-775-0908 to schedule.

*Please note: To research family history, please contact the Sumter County Genealogical Society. Call 803-774-3901 for their current hours or to schedule an appointment. They are a separate organization, located on the bottom floor of the Williams Brice House.
